The Week Ahead, May 25: No Frills Small Business, Universal Basic Income

How did you spend (still ongoing) your Memorial Day weekend?

The Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic exhibit has been on my to see list since April.  Weekends would come and go but no Kehinde for me.  Knowing that yesterday was the very last day of the exhibit,  I gave up lazy weekend mode and FINALLY made it to the Brooklyn Museum.  Wiley’s recasting of famous European art works with black and brown models reorients the world in a thought-provoking, humane way.

The photo above is of the sculpture Bound. It is of three women with the same facial expression, connected through their ornate hairstyle.  I immediately thought of the three women as nymphs as oracles. African Greek mythology!
