“We want to transform with our people, with the community that we build.”
–Jesse Johnson, The Pow Wow cofounder
ADELE’s lush vocals greeted me as I entered Stonefruit Espresso + Kitchen’s back room to meet Jesse Johnson of The Pow Wow to hear about their newly opened coworking and event space. Jesse co-founded the creative collective with Dora Marin (a friend from high school in Denver) and Adam Fleming (a colleague Jesse met while doing Wicked). A coworking and event space is a natural fit for The Pow Wow’s mission to provide an opportunity for artists to promote their work, cultivate their talents and collaborate with each other on an ongoing basis. “We came up with the concept of having a space together because both of us were looking to – I had done theater my whole life, I love building things, and creating things and was looking to have another way to be a part of the community to uplift and support people,” Jesse said.
In that spirit, The Pow Wow also hosts yoga sessions with Kapuyo Yoga, open mic nights and markets in the space. For neighborhood creatives and artists eager to be a part of this community and need a space to work on your projects and (possibly) collaborate with others, The Pow Wow has what you need. Current coworking rates are $20 per day, $110 per week and $400 for a monthly membership with 10% off Stonefruit purchases. Event space rates are $50 per hour Monday to Thursday and $75 per hour Friday to Sunday.
